#16 Double Barrel – Dave and Ansell Collins

1971 hit from a Kingston duo, released by Trojan. The song was a success in the clubs in England (as was Monkey Spanner, the follow-up), but not much happened for either of them after that (session work mostly). The songs are probably most remembered for the exclamatory vocals : “I’m the magnificent” “double 00” “heavy heavy monster sound” “Don’t watch that, watch this!”, etc. etc. As I recall both records were very popular with certain girls  at school (the ones that liked Judge Dread).
